for 1808, with browned twist-iron 31in. barrels, ivory bead fore-sight, flambé needles engraved to the rib-end, squared patent breech-block with rectangular inlaid gold poincons marked in relief 'MANTON, LONDON' and a crown (gold absent from left hand example), single gold line and platinum vents, border engraved flat slightly curved bar-action locks with pointed tails, each further engraved with a partridge at the tail and signed 'MANTON', border and scroll engraved hammers with sunbursts to the jaw-screws, rain-proof pans, re-faced frizzens, large rollers to the frizzen-springs, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, (the fore-end with extensive repairs internally) applied leather tear-drop cheek-piece, iron heel-plate with traces of engraving to the top-spur, border and game-bird engraved trigger-guard bow with scrolled raised tang, engraved pineapple finial, en-suite ramrod throat, plain thimbles and possible original oak ramrod,
