28in. replacement nitro barrels by the makers (in 1986), the ribs engraved 'BOSS & CO. 13. DOVER STREET. LONDON. W1.' and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' surrounded by flashes of acanthus scrollwork at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true and imp. cyl. (both), rounded bar actions, Boss improved patent single-trigger, patent no. 22894 of 26th November 1894, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguards, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, brushed and blued finish, 15in. figured replacement stocks by the makers (in 1991), weight 6lb. 6oz. (both), in their makers brass-cornered oak and leather double guncase
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were ordered February 1901 with 28in. barrels by Alex Blair Stewart of Pitlochry.
Other Notes: Boss & Co. have also kindly confirmed that this pair of guns were rebarrelled by them in 1986 and restocked by them in 1991.
