CALDEMEIER, TECKLENBURG
A COMPOSED PAIR OF FINE 16-BORE FLINTLOCK SPORTING-GUNS, serial no's. 64 & 65,
German, in the Dutch/Liege manner and circa 1720, with 42 1/2in. and 43in. barrels of triple-stage and two stage respectively, both octagonal sections with applied carved brass panels in relief, brass star-burst fore-sights, engraved brass-covered top-tangs, brass faceted locks signed 'CALDEMEIER' (sic) 'A TECKLENB' (sic) below the pans, the centre-sections of the locks with foliate engraving, engraved brass plates to the flat sides of the hammers, faceted hammer-jaws, pans and frizzens, the latter with moulded and carved fronts, all nails with concave heads, carved and moulded walnut full-stocks featuring floral carving around the top-tangs, front of combs and ramrod throats, moulded borders around much of the furniture, large relief embossed brass butt-plates with acanthus finials, the toe of each plate engraved with the serial number, faceted trigger-guards and bows en-suite with the butt-plates, turned brass ramrod thimbles, the brass throats with grotesque masks, original brass tipped wood ramrods, some shallow minor pitting to iron parts, inlets and age cracks to woodwork
