27 3/8in. heavy nitro barrel engraved in gothic script 'R. D. FREEMAN, 29A ST. JAMES ST. WEST, BATH.', file cut sight rib with open sights, matt front and marked for 100 yards, block mounted bead fore-sight, no safety, the action finely engraved with feathered bordering and acanthus scrollwork, surrounding central game scenes of African elephant and Cape buffalo, scrolling banners engraved 'R. D. FREEMAN', signed 'SHP', retaining virtually full colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/4in. well-figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved and colour-hardened steel pistolgrip-cap, including 1in. rubber recoil pad, weight 13lb. 2oz.

Provenance: The maker has kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed on the 14th July 1988 and that the engraving was executed by Sally Perkins.
