* A VERY RARE 54-BORE PERCUSSION 'HAMMERLESS' REVOLVER, MODEL 'PENNELL'S PATENT', no visible serial number,
circa 1855, with re-blued octagonal 6 1/2in. sighted barrel signed on the top flat 'OWEN POWELL, SHEFFIELD', pivoting barrel-catch stamped 'PATENT', plain cylinder of transitional revolver form with engraved band to front edge, patent open frame engraved with borderlines and American scrolls, safety-stud on the left side with two vacant threaded holes possibly for a belt-hook to the same side, enclosed striker, scroll engraved top-tang and trigger-guard, moulded iron butt-cap with central scroll engraved panel, chequered one-piece walnut butt (chipped on left-hand side at head), vacant silver shield-shaped escutcheon and Birmingham proof marks
