A RARE 8-BORE PINFIRE DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, serial no. 2307,
circa 1865, with darkly stained, possibly slightly shortened iron 33in. barrels, the top rib signed 'BOSS & CO, 73 ST. JAMES'S STREET LONDON', white metal bead fore-sight, shell engraving to rib-end, engraved bands to breech and florettes engraved around the pin-holes, fully engraved long top-tang, border and scroll engraved back action locks signed 'BOSS & CO.', highly figured chequered walnut straight-hand 14 3/8in. butt-stock, iron heel-plate (corroded), scroll engraved 'Jones' type swing under-lever opening, scroll engraved rounded action body, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with engraved iron tip and cross wedge, the whole retaining strong traces of colour to locks and action, weight approximately 10 1/2lbs.

A Breech Loading Gun:
8 bore 2ft 10 long elevated rib, to the same length in the stocks as the old breech loader but more bent in the stock. Weight about 10 lbs. Wanted as soon as possible must be very handy & to shoot 2 oz. shot without recoil,
