AN EXTREMELY RARE 26.5mm ALL-BRASS DOUBLE-BARRELLED FLARE-PISTOL, MODEL 'AUFLOSUNG DEUTSCHE LEUCHTPISTOLEN-SAMMLUNG M1899', serial no. 29,
translating as 'Double-Marine Flare Gun Mod 1899 ("Submarine Modified")', manufactured for the German Imperial Navy, with break-open 4in. brass barrels, all matching numbers, with locking rod and chequered brass pull-piece, boxlock single-trigger action with domed circular side-plates and exposed iron hammers with chequered spurs, smooth wood grips, the heel finely engraved 'FL / No. 29' for production at Fritz Langenhan, Zella-Mehlis, with a further stamped lettering 'APT' in indication of the modification or 'Aptierung' to calibre 4 by the company of Schilling, Suhl.

Other Notes: These extremely rare collector's items are known by international collectors as 'Submarine Modified' in respect of their sole use by crews of Imperial German submarines. May be possessed in the UK on a Section 1 licence with special permission from the issuing constabulary
