circa 1770, with two-stage slightly swamped brass 10in. barrels banded and engraved at the intersection, acanthus scroll engraving and London proofs at breech, border engraved solid iron top-tang with later sighting grooves, flat border and scroll engraved locks signed 'WHATELY', en-suite hammers, unbridled frizzens, pointed tails, walnut full-stocks with silver wire scroll inlay around the top-tangs, rococo escutcheons to wrists, brass furniture including short-tailed grotesque mask butt-caps, pierced side-plates, double roll-edged trigger-guard bows, acorn finials and ramrod throats and pipes, complete with wood under-barrel ramrods
