28 7/8in. black powder only reproved bold damascus barrels, sunken rib engraved 'J. PURDEY. 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET. LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, some pits, rotary underlever forming triggerguard and semi-pistolgrip, carved percussion fences, non-rebounding back-action locks with reblued dolphin hammers, bold acanthus scroll engraving, brushed finish overall, 14 1/4in. well-figured stock (chequering refreshed) including steel buttplate, weight 6lb. 12oz., in its brass-cornered oak and leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1862 with 2ft. 5in. barrels for a J. Bishop
