A 16-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, no visible serial number, circa 1830, with 35 1/2in. twist sighted barrels signed 'CANONA RUBANS FER DE FAULX' in silver on the rib, engraved back-action locks signed respectively 'PALIARD VIALLETTON FRERES' and 'A ST. ETIENNE', figured walnut half-stock carved in relief with a classical mask behind the grip, chequered grip and fore-end, raised cheek-piece, iron mounts, sling mounts, and horn-tipped ramrod (some discolouration and wear, cleaned bright).
Other Notes: The firm of Vialletton Paliard & Fils is recorded in St. Etienne from around 1820.
