A SCARCE CASED 38-BORE FIVE-SHOT TRIGGER-COCKING REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S PATENT', serial no. 36,
circa 1855, with octagonal 6 1/2in. barrel, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, engraved band at muzzle, the borderline engraved top-strap signed 'GARDEN & SON, 200 PICCADILLY, LONDON', borderline engraved solid frame with inverted 'Y' shaped safe spring, spurless hammer, finely chequered walnut butt with shaped iron butt-cap, trigger stamped with 'W. TRANTER'S PATENT No.1440' and extended blade protruding from the bow, Tranter's Patent loading lever mounted to left hand side of frame, minimal traces of finish; TOGETHER WITH a period mahogany storage case (patched bullet-hole to lid) and lined and compartmented in green baize together with a number of period accessories including a matching number bullet mould, cleaning rod, oil-bottle,turn-screw, nipple-key, caps and lubricating compound.
