circa 1840, with octagonal iron turn-off 4 3/4in. barrels signed on the top-flats 'J. BLISSETT 322 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON' (darkly stained, bruised), silver fore-sight beads, engraved bands at muzzles, squared brass boxlock side-hammer actions with radiused edges and scroll engraving, the top-plates with standing notch rear-sights, walnut butts profusely inlaid with white-metal vines and leaves (losses), large cornucopia to the heels, engraved white-metal butt-caps with central trapdoors, concealed folding triggers and London proofs; TOGETHER WITH their makers brass bound mahogany case, the outer lid with flush fitting brass handle, the mount of which engraved 'CAPT J. GALLWEY, 16TH REGT.', possible replacement parchment label to inside of lid, the lower tray lined and compartmented in blue baize and containing a number of period accessories including an earlier three-way flask
