circa 1850, with twist-iron 29 1/2in. barrel (cleaned, makers details obscured on rib), bead fore-sight, acanthus scroll engraving to rib end at breech, twin platinum lines and inlet platinum rectangular poincons signed 'SYKES, OXFORD' in raised letters, long acanthus scroll engraved top-tang, border and acanthus scroll engraved back-action locks, the centres inhabited by feathered serpents and signed on the lock tails 'SYKES, OXFORD', engraved dolphin hammers, walnut half-stock with period applied leather cheek-pad (inlet repair to fore-end), iron furniture and original ramrod
