A PAIR OF 12-BORE 'NO.2 GRADE' SIDELOCK EJECTORS, serial no. 20793 / 4,
circa 1898, 27 7/8in. replacement nitro barrels (loose on actions), the ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 13. BRUTON STREET. LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, minor dents, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, gold-washed triggers, border engraving with some acanthus scrollwork, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 7/8in. stocks (No.2 small crack right overhorn) including 5/8in. recoil pads, fore-ends with Deeley & Edge patent releases and some repairs to woodwork, weight 6lb. 10oz., in their brass-cornered oak and leather case with internal protecting flap
Provenance: The Lot comes with an invoice from Holland & Holland, dated 26th June 1964, recording the sale of the guns second hand to a D. Holman Esq. for a sum of £700
