converted at Enfield in 1970 from a BSA Shirley 1943 dated No.4 T., 27 1/2in. free-floating hammer-forged nitro reproved barrel (in 1998), block and blade fore-sight, folding aperture rear sight, battle sight ground off, receiver fitted with a 'Telescope Straight Sighting L1A1' telescopic sight and marked 'TEL. STG. No 32 MK.3. OS 2039 A' with a line through it, and 'NO. 25834. 1240-99-963-2063. TEL. STRT. STG. L1A1. OS 2429. G.A.', in a quickly-detachable mount, the mount marked 'AP1221', with screwed and staked bases, scope transit tin stamped 'TELESCOPE STRAIGHT SIGHTING. CASED LIAI. 1240-99-963-2062. PSMW. 1973.' and '1240-99-962-1519.' and in white pen 'SIGHT TELE SER. NO. 25834.', the receiver marked on the left side 'L42A1' the Enfield trademark and '74' and 'T', the butt-stock collar marked on the left 'M47. 1943. AP1221. T.R..', manual safety, detachable box magazine marked 'CR141A 65', halfstock, single barrel band, sling swivels, raised cheekpiece, numbered at the wrist '25034', the fore-end underside numbered '1221', 13in. 3/8in. pull including brass buttplate with central trapdoor, weight 10lb. 11oz (unscoped) and 13lb. 1oz. (scoped), in its wooden transit chest with three draw scout regiment telescope marked 'TEL. SIG. (MK IV) also GS. RYLAND & SON LTD. LONDON. 1917. No. 28.159.', with leather case, individual weapon sight bracket, cleaning kit, chamber cleaning tool, lens cleaning bottle and brush, canvas sling, the chest lid marked 'RIFLE 7.62MM L42A1. AP1221. TEL. STRT. STG. L1A1. 25834.'
