A PAIR OF 12-BORE 1887 PATENT ROUND-ACTION TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION EJECTORS, serial no. 4363 / 4,
for 1890, 28 1/8in. sleeved steel to damascus nitro barrels (in 1988), the ribs engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON, 63, PRINCES STREET, EDINBURGH.' and '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke (No.1) and 1/2 and full (No.2), Dickson patent round-actions incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use numbers 313 and 314, the toplevers engraved '1' and '2', tang mounted gold pin cocking-indicators, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, profusely engraved with bold acanthus scrollwork and with scrolling banners engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON PATENT' to the sides, 14 7/8in. highly-figured stocks including tapered wooden extensions and fitted with well-matched chequered pistolgrip extensions with horn pistolgrips numbered '1' and '2', the fore-ends inset with '1' and '2' in white metal, weight 6lb. 11oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 9oz. (No.2), in their brass-cornered oak and leather case


Provenance: A photocopy of the entry in the makers records (supplied with the guns) informs us that the guns were ordered on August 8th 1890 by a G. J. Ferguson Buchanan Esq., as a pair of Best Double Ejector Hammerless Guns, No. 4363 (313) and 4364 (314) with 29in. damascus barrels
