A RARE CASED PAIR OF 25-BORE FLINTLOCK BRASS-BARRELLED DUELLING PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1790, with slightly swamped octagonal 8 3/4in. barrels signed on the top-flats 'LONDON', London proofs and ball engraved band at the breech-ends, border and scroll engraved iron tangs, flat iron border-line engraved step-tailed lockplates signed 'JACKSON', roller-bearing frizzen-springs, walnut full-stocks with slab-sided bag-shaped butts, iron furniture with pillar trigger-guard bows, pineapple finials and brass mounted ebony ramrods; TOGETHER WITH a period (most probably original to the pistols) mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in rough green baize and containing a number of period accessories including an unsigned three-way flask, a scissors ball-mould, spring cramp, turnscrew and powder-measure, the lid outer with brass escutcheon and flush-fitting 'D' shaped handle
