A SCARCE, CASED, .300 (ROOK) BOXLOCK EJECTOR ROOK RIFLE, serial no. 3505, with original numbered telescopic sight,
circa 1890, 26in. black powder only octagonal barrel, partially file-cut top flat and finely script-engraved 'DANL. FRASER & CO. GUN & RIFLE MANUFACTURERS 4 LEITH ST. TERRACE. EDINBURGH', open sights and two folding leaf sights with matted fronts, inlaid sight lines and marked for 50, 100 and 150 yards, bead fore-sight, the breech end mounted for its Fraser Patent Telescopic sight, the sight tube engraved 'DANL. FRASER & CO. GUN & RIFLE MAKERS EDINBURGH', and 'SOLE PATENTEES & MANUFACTURERS', with improved patent detachable dovetail mount rings with push button release, part of provisional patent no. 13444 of 6th November 1885, the rear mount serial numbered 3505 (the case lid directions for use label hand numbered '124') and improved leather covered eyepiece or recoil slide, action with inverted teardrop fences, removable striker disc, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, non-selective ejector, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, the sides with scrolling banners engraved 'DANL. FRASER & CO.', retaining traces of original colour-hardening and some finish, 14 5/8in. figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap and steel buttplate (retaining some original blued finish), Hackett snap fore-end with horn finial, weight 5lb. 11oz. (unscoped) and 6lb. 8oz. (with scope), in its canvas and leather case with red baize interior, provision for telescopic sight, Danl Fraser & Co. 4 Leith Street trade label and additional 'The Fraser Patent Telescopic Sight' directions for use label, numbered as 124 and ranged for '100-200-300 yards', together with a vintage Eley Bros rook rifle ammunition box
