29in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels, ribs engraved 'BOSS & CO. 13, DOVER STREET, PICCADILLY. LONDON.W.' and gold-inlaid '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke (No.1) and 1/4 and 1/4 choke (No.2, right wall-thickness at 18), the No.1 gun with extra barrels (made in 1990), rib gold-inlaid '1' and with a star, tubes engraved 'EXTRA BARRELS FOR BOSS. NO. 6053. MADE BY J. RIGBY & CO. LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 1/4 choke, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, Boss improved patent single-triggers, patent no. 11278 of 30th May 1905, rolled-edge triggerguards, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, 14 3/4in. highly-figured replacement stocks including 5/8in. leather covered recoil pads, weight 6lb. 12oz., (No.1 weight 7lb. 3oz. with extra barrels), fore-end woods with insert repairs to left hand edges, in their brass-cornered oak and leather case with some accessories. The makers have kindly confirmed that this pair were ordered as part of a trio by Viscount Ridley in June 1911.
