original .375 barrel engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON' and 'WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS, LONDON', (possibly later) block-mounted open sights with two folding leaf sights, marked for 100, 200 and 300 yards, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight with flip-up moonsight, fine replacement fore-end with flat-top chequering and horn finial,
new 6.5x57R nitro ovoid barrel, flat top engraved 'REBARRELLED BY MARTIN HAGN CRANBROOK BC CANADA', with folding leaf sight and bed fore-sight, the breech end mounted with a Hensoldt Diavari-D 1,5-6x telescopic sight in quickly detachable mounts (optics require adjusting), No.3 type detachable action, manual tang safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, border engraving and central 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND' details, the right side with action release lever, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/8in. well-figured replacement pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap (with trap), flat-top chequering, including 3/8in. rubber recoil pad, weight 8lb. 11oz. (6.5x57R barrel)
Literature: This rifle is referenced in 'British Single Shot Rifles Vol. 5 - Holland & Holland' by Wal Winfer, page 91. It marks serial no. 24142 as simply '.375' for 'Bedford', no date listed.
