Deeley and L.B. Taylor patent hand-detachable locks, patent no. 17731 of 28th July 1897, acanthus scroll engraving surrounding vignettes of pheasant and partridge, gold-inlaid with the makers name, the underside with a stricken snipe, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. semi-pistolgrip stock, weight 5lb. 15oz., in its makers leather case
