25 5/8in. nitro reproved barrel of ovoid form (smoothbored from .295 Rook) partially matted top flat (open sights removed and dovetailed insert), sides engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER 151 NEW BOND ST. LONDON. "HAMMERLESS" .295CF', and 'NON-FOULING SMOOTH OVAL BORE', with fine acanthus scroll detailing at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chamber, bored approx. true cyl., hammerless triggerplate treble-grip action with Purdey double bite and dolls-head extension, removable striker disc, carved fence, Lancaster patent non-selective ejector, patent no. 112 of 14th January 1867, H.A.A. Thorn patent trigger-cocking action, patent no. 1242 of 21st March 1881, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, the rounded bar engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER'S PATENT', 14 3/8in. figured stock with steel buttplate, small circular plug to rear of top strap, Hackett snap fore-end with horn finial, weight 5lb. 3oz.
