A BRITISH PATTERN 1845 RIFLE-OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE VOLUNTEER RIFLES, UNSIGNED,
circa 1880, with 32 1/2in. 'Wilkinson' style blade etched on both sides with scroll within arabesque borders, the left side with 'V.R.' monogram and crown, the right with a Rifle Regiment bugle device and 'VOLUNTEER RIFLES', inlet proof-mark at forte, three-bar iron 'gothic' hilt with pierced Rifle Regiment device, sharkskin wire-bound grip, chequered back-strap and stepped pommel, complete with its iron scabbard (remains of a later painted finish)
