for 1884, with 28in. octagonal barrel stamped 'WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN CT.' and 'KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860', block and blade fore-sight, buckhorn rear-sight with stepped elevator, late model dust-cover to receiver, tang stamped 'MODEL 1876', rifle style stock with sliding trap-door in the crescent heel-plate, full length magazine and traces of finish in sheltered areas
