A GOOD CASED 38-BORE PERCUSSION REVOLVER WITH DETACHABLE STOCK, MODEL '4th MODEL', serial no. 18267T,
circa 1856, with blued 7in. barrel, engraved band at muzzle, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, borderline engraved solid frame marked 'TRANTER'S PATENT', the top-strap signed 'F.T. BAKER, 88 FLEET ST. LONDON', plain five-shot cylinder (colour faded almost to nothing) with rope-twist engraved border to leading edge, swept chequered walnut grip with rectangular aperture in the back-strap to accept the figured walnut skeleton butt-stock, ball headed locking nut threaded through butt-cap, double action trigger-mechanism, Tranter's Patent rammer mounted to left side of barrel, the whole with much original finish remaining, together with a substantial English market leather covered oak storage case, the interior compartmented and lined in green baize, the inside of lid with period 'WATSON & SON' retailer's label, the case containing a period but un-numbered 38-bore double cavity bullet mould, a loading rod, turn-screw, nipple-key, Bartram powder flask and an oil-bottle, the leather exterior with some dry patches and light distressing, shotgun case style handle missing
