circa 1866, with blued octagonal 3 1/2in. barrel, the raised sighting rib fitted with a nickel crescent fore-sight and signed 'SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS, PAT'D APRIL 3 1855 & JULY 5 1859', top-hinge forwards of the solid top-strap, plain blued five-shot cylinder, blued frame with exposed central hammer and spur trigger and smooth rosewood flared grips, retaining a fair amount of apparently original finish
