circa 1880, with nickel-plated 3in. octagonal barrel and rounded muzzle, the top-flat signed 'E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y.' over 'RIDER'S PAT. AUG. 15 1871', integral under-barrel magazine tube housing with removable tubular magazine, border and scroll engraved nickel-plated frame, colour-hardened tandem central hammers, one to load, the other fire, slab-sided smooth rose-wood grips, the whole retaining virtually all its original nickel-plate and finish
