* A GOOD .75 BROWN BESS TYPE FLINTLOCK TRADE MUSKET SIGNED TOWER CIRCA 1860, no visible serial number, with 39ins. polished bright barrel with traces of London proofs at breech block front-sight, the lock of Brown Bess style without border line engraving and having the crown "G.R." cypher to the centre and "TOWER" on the tail and fitted with a swan-neck cock, full stocked in beech having a more slender form than the regulation Bess, hand rail wrist and carved apron around the breech tang, the butt stamped with a spurious "W.D." broad arrow, and a roundel inside of which is stamped the following "BARNETT / GUNMAKERS / LONDON",the stock is fitted with regulation brass mounts include Brown Bess pattern side-plate, nose-cap and four rammer pipes the trigger-guard and butt-plate are pattern 1853 Enfield style. The musket was made out of surplus military parts as a trade gun, complete with sling swivels and leather sling, the rod a replacement from a Martini Henry.
