dated for 1858, with 36 3/4in. re-blued rifled barrel designed for the 'Minie' bullet, block and blade fore-sight, folding ladder rear-sight, serial number stamped on top tang, plain 'hump-back' back-action lock dated below a letter 'C' with the serial number repeated on the tail, plain wood straight-hand three-quarter stock, numbered and dated to match, iron heel-plate and trigger-guard, two brass barrel-bands and a brass nose-cap and an iron, possibly replacement ramrod
