THOMPSON & CO. 12-BORE ROTARY-UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 1703, circa 1870, 30in. black powder only damascus barrels (pitted, some dents and rivels), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, slender carved serpentine fences, bar-action locks with non-rebounding slab-sided hammers with faceted heads, Jones-patent rotary underlever, border and acanthus scroll engraving, 14 1/4in. figured with steel heel and toe plates, fore-end with cross-pin release catch (missing finial), weight 7lb.
