A .30 (RIMFIRE) JAMES WARNER POCKET REVOLVER, serial no. 1505,
circa 1868, with blued round 3in. barrel, applied crescent fore-sight, solid frame with indexing bar recessed into top-strap, plain five-shot blued cylinder marked 'WARNER'S PATENT 1857', load cut-out with loading gate, central hammer, flared walnut grips and guarded trigger, a rammer style ejector rod mounted below barrel, strong amount of original finish remaining
Provenance: James Warner was possibly one of the unluckiest manufacturers of the period as the original percussion version of this revolver was introduced after the Colt master patent had expired, but still lost out in the courts for patent infringement. Towards the end of the 1860's, the dedicated metallic cartridge version was introduced (as represented here) and Warner lost out again in the courts for patent infringement. Both occasions forced him to halt production
