circa 1840, with octagonal etched damascus rifled 5 1/4in. turn-off barrel, bead fore-sight, shallow rear-sight to top of standing breech, moulded nipple-boss, border and scroll engraved squared side-hammer boxlock action (at fault), the top-plate signed 'ULRICH ROOS UND SOHN, STUTTGART', swinging dog safe forwards of the engraved hammer, concealed trigger and smooth walnut grip with swollen pommel mounted with a white metal trap embossed with a mask of Athena
