"PATENT BREECH LOADER"', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, action incorporating J. Purdey 1863 second pattern thumbhole underlever with bifurcated triggerguard and Purdey 1863 double bite, patent no. 1104 of 2nd May, use number 395, carved percussion fences, rebounding back-action locks with profusely engraved dolphin hammers, border and fine bold acanthus scroll engraving, the action bar with 'CHARLES LANCASTER'S PATENT', 14 1/2in. well-figured stock with engraved steel heel and toe plates, fore-end with crosspin release and horn finial, weight 6lb. 11oz.
