CHARLES HELLIS & SONS 12-BORE SIDEPLATED BOXLOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 1421, for 1902, 26in. replacement nitro barrels (by the makers in 1965), the tubes engraved 'CHARLES HELLIS & SONS. 7. BURY STREET. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON. ENGLAND', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, treble-grip action, automatic safety, border and scroll engraving, the decorative sideplates recessed and engraved en suite, 14 3/4in. well-figured replacement stock, weight 6lb. 10oz., in a canvas and leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed the gun was completed in 1902 with 26in. barrels and sold in June 1906 to a Mr Mansell for £21. The gun was purchased back by the company in 1961 and new barrels (listed as 27in.) were fitted in 1965. A copy of an invoice from FredericK Beesley (undated) accompanies the lot, confirming they restocked the guns at a cost of £1,351
