A 16-BORE PERCUSSION SPORTING RIFLE SIGNED HOLLIS, no visible serial number, with period mould,
circa 1860, with 32 3/4in. well rebrowned octagonal damascus barrel, traces of signature to top-flat, probably 'I. HOLLIS & SONS, LONDON & BIRMINGHAM', dove-tailed beaded blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, breech-block engraved with a boars head, scrolls and borders, twin gold lines and engraved platinum plug, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang extending almost to the comb, borderline and scroll engraved unsigned back-action lock also featuring a gamescene of deer in a grassland setting, scroll engraved dolphin headed hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, the left side at wrist fitted with a large brass mount for a folding aperture sight (sight absent), iron furniture including flat-faced trigger guard bow, single set trigger and brass tipped mahogany ramrod, together with a single cavity steel bullet mould with bevel edges and numbered '2209'
