circa 1770, probably cut-down from a pre-existing officer's fusil, with two-stage round iron 17in. barrel, the top marked 'TEMPLE BARR LONDON', moulded band at breech bisected by a narrow sighting groove extending onto the engraved top-tang, rounded lock with raised borderline and signed 'NEWTON' within an embellished banner below the shallow rainproof pan, swan-necked cock, moulded frizzen with engraved bridle, feathered tip to the frizzen-spring, walnut hand-rail full-stock, engraved brass furniture except for the 'Elliot' style side-plate, ramrod throat and single pipe, period ramrod (frozen)
