'LEE SPEED' BOLT-MAGAZINE SPORTING RIFLE, serial no. 10885, circa 1910, converted from .303, 24 1/2in. nitro reproved Parker lined barrel (in 1977), engine turned matt rib (lifting at the rear), the breech-end engraved 'FOR CORDITE ONLY', open rear sight with two folding leaf sights and additional ladder sight, bead fore-sight with side protectors, receiver fitted with a Certar 2 3/4 C.P. Coerz Berlin telescopic sight, serial no. 3214, in quickly-detachable side mounts, receiver also fitted with a PH16 aperture rear sight, B.S.A. and C. Proctor patent tang safety, patent No. 28834 of 7th December 1897, the tang marked 'B.S.A. PAT. 28834 / 97' in an oval, turned-down bolt, magazine cut-off switch, detachable magazine, border and partial acanthus scroll engraving, blued finish, 14 1/4in. pistolgrip stock with pistolgrip cap, including steel buttplate with central trapdoor, fore-end with horn finial, sling eyes, weight 9lb. 6oz.
