SAMUEL SMALLWOOD 12-BORE BOXLOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 3097, circa 1896, 29 3/4in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 1992), the rib engraved 'SAMUEL SMALLWOOD. 9. MILK STREET. SHREWSBURY.' (refreshed), and with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech-end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, scoop-backed treble-grip action, carved fences, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, the action and furniture profusely engraved with bolt acanthus scrollwork, the makers name in a scrolling banner, retaining very slight traces of colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. figured semi-pistolgrip stock with engraved steel heel and toe plates, weight 6lb. 10oz.
