A HIPPOLYTE COROMBELLE-ENGRAVED 16-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 6410,
for 1926, Belgian made, 28 3/8in. (72cm) Toledo-steel works nitro barrels, finely file-cut rib with finely engraved bands of foliate design at the breech ends, the tubes engraved in fine script 'Jozef Splichal Syn. Krakow', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, treble-grip action with hidden third bite, removable striker discs, automatic safety, articulated front trigger, the fences, short side bolsters and toplever thumbpiece very finely carved in relief with floral and ribbon motifs, the action, lockplates and furniture very finely engraved with fine acanthus scrollwork interspersed with ribbon work and floral sprays, the underside with an intricate art nouveau centrepiece, the drapes engraved 'JOZEF SPLICHEL KRAKOW', the triggerplate signed 'H. COROMBELLE', bright and blued finish overall, 14 7/8in. highly-figured stock including 7/8in. wooden extension, weight 6lb. 6oz., in a canvas case
