for 1881, with round 20in. barrel, the top signed by the maker and with patent dates of '1866' & '1860' and further signed 'TRULOCK & HARRISS, 9 DAWSON ST. DUBLIN', block and blade fore-sight, twin blade 'L' shaped carbine rear-sight, period London proofs, the receiver with further signature from the retailer to the left side, loading port to the right, automatic retracting dust-cover with applied guide-rail to receiver top, exposed hammer, top-tang without provision for a peep-sight and marked 'MODEL 1873', loose saddle-ring, walnut butt, the iron carbine heel-plate with central trap containing the original dismountable cleaning rod, brass cartridge lifter, walnut fore-end with single barrel band and full-length magazine with further band at nose, traces of finish
