Product Details

A 14-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN SIGNED THOMPSON, BARRELS BY E. HOLLAND, no visible serial number,
circa 1855, with browned laminated 29 1/4in. barrels, the top-rib inlet in white metal 'E. HOLLAND' within a field of scrolls, bead fore-sight, shallow sighting groove to the fully engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'THOMPSON, MAKER' on the left and 'THOMPSON, No.1 DIGBY ST. BIRMINGHAM' on the right, sculpted and engraved hammers with dolphin-form noses (one retaining screw fractured but holding), chequered birdseye maple half-stock with engraved iron furniture including raised lower tang and square-fronted trigger guard bow and brass mounted ebony ramrod

Provenance: Edward Holland was listed in the record books as trading in West Bromwich, Staffordshire in 1855. This shotgun would appear to be a collaboration between him and George Thompson, who traded at No.1 Digby St. between 1850-62
