PURDEY & SONS. LONDON. ENGLAND.', treble-grip action with short side-bolsters and side-clips, removable striker discs, manual tang safety with bolting lever, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger, rolled-edge triggerguard, the fences deeply carved in high relief with stylised acanthus leaves, the action, sideplates and furniture finely carved with bold foliate and acanthus designs on a finely matted background, the makers name in scrolling banners to the lockplates, the rear of the lockplates with finely engraved game scenes in bulino style, the left with two Cape buffalo, the right with fighting male lions, the underside with an African bull elephant, the toplever with the portrait of a lioness, the triggerguard with the portrait of a leopard, the triggerguard signed 'G. Steduto.
