A COMPOSED PAIR OF LATE 18TH CENTURY INDIAN 'PATA' or GAUNTLET SWORDS, UNSIGNED,
circa 1790, with straight narrow 35in. double-edged blades of probable European manufacture, one with a short blind fuller forwards of the riveted blade-mount, moulded iron hand-bowls (one holed), with internal iron cross-bar grip, one bowl formed with serrated edge decoration and stylised moulded eyes, both with integral fore-arm guards with reinforcing bands, the slightly shorter example with a crescent shaped support, the other with provision for similar, now absent, staining throughout to both
