A RARE .30 PERCUSSION ALLEN & WHEELOCK SMALL FRAME BAR-HAMMER TRANSITIONAL POCKET REVOLVER, batch no. 1018,
circa 1859, with unsighted 2 1/2in. octagonal barrel, the left side-flat signed 'ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER MASS' over 'ALLEN'S PATENT APRIL 16 1845' (partly illegible), solid frame, roll engraved five-shot cylinder featuring scenes of deer and ducks in a woodland river setting, vertical nipple wells, long rounded bar-hammer, small walnut bag-shaped grips and guarded trigger
Provenance: Only approximately 1000 of these diminutive revolvers were manufactured between the years 1858 to the early 1860s
