for 1825, with octagonal to sixteen-sided to round 30in. well rebrowned barrel, carved band at the intersection, the top-flat signed in script 'JOHN MANTON & SON, DOVER STREET', bead fore-sight, colour hardened and engraved breech-block with engraved platinum plug, the breech additionally held to the angled false breech via a side-nail, fully border and foliate engraved top-tang, border, foliate and gamescene engraved bar-action lock, the foliage inhabited by feathered serpents and signed 'JOHN MANTON & SON, PATENT' below the breech, slab-sided dolphin headed hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (well executed repair to left side of fore-end), iron furniture, twin white-metal escutcheoned barrel-keys and original ramrod
