Product Details

ALEX MARTIN
A SCARCE 12-BORE 'RIBLESS' BOXLOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 6990,
dated 1955, 27in. 'ribless' nitro barrels, tubes engraved 'ALEX MARTIN 20, EXCHANGE SQUARE. GLASGOW.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. full choke in both, treble-grip action with hidden third bite, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, acanthus scroll engraving with the makers name in scrolling banners, brushed finish, 15 1/2in. stock, diminutive fore-end, weight 6lb., in a Brady canvas and leather guncase

Other Notes: In their 1932 catalogue, the ribless gun is illustrated to show how the ribless design avoids the common problem of the accumulation of rust between the ribs in what they describe as the enclosed 'rust chamber' and states that 'the top and bottom rib in double shotgun barrels are entirely unnecessary'. Moreover, having a ribless gun, saves '1/4lb. of useless metal'
