A .44 (RUSSIAN) SMITH & WESSON DOUBLE-ACTION FIRST MODEL REVOLVER, serial no. 19774, in a later case and with period holster,
the revolver dating from 1889, with blued 6in. barrel signed on the top-rib in two lines and with patent dates to 1880, break-open frame with automatic ejecting fluted six-shot cylinder, blued ancillaries including hammer and trigger, chequered brown hard rubber grips, in good but reblued condition, in a possibly period but competently amateur produced wood range casing with compartments for ammunition and accessories and including a period steel single cavity mould, a boxed reloading set, two period card ammunition cartons a tin for UMC primers, six snap-caps, a certificate of proof for the revolver, a Smith & Wesson archive letter and a period leather full-flap holster marked 'S&W .44 DA 6'
Provenance: The Smith & Wesson Archive Letter states that according to factory records, this revolver was shipped to Hartley & Graham Co. in New York on July 3rd 1889, with a note marking it 'for export'
