Provenance: D.H.L. Back's work 'Great Irish Gunmakers, Messr's Rigby 1760-1869' states that this 'Best Match Rifle' was sold to a Mr Luxmoore as a 52-bore with 37in. barrel in 1866 for the sum of £23-2-0. The barrel is also described as a 'Best Match Rifle' with identical specifications and was sold to a 'T. Lunsmoore'. Whether this is the same gentleman is not certain, but it would seem highly probable.
