arsenal conversion to centrefire from rimfire, with 22in. barrel marked 'NEW MODEL 1863' towards the breech, white metal blade fore-sight, Lawrence patent rear-sight calibrated to 800 yards, straight breech-block, back-action lock marked 'C. SHARPS' PAT OCT 5TH 1852', 13 3/4in. walnut half-stock struck with two inspection stamps and incised '7 CAV' and 'AK' on the left side of the butt, iron butt-plate, saddle-bar and suspension-ring (some discolouration throughout).
