THOMAS TURNER, HALIFAX
A CASED PAIR OF 40-BORE PERCUSSION DUELLING PISTOLS,
circa 1825, with 10 1/4in. twist sighted barrels each with concave sighting flat, border and scroll engraved breeches each with short gold-inlaid line, border and scroll engraved tangs and bolted locks, the latter each signed 'THOS. TURNER HALIFAX', figured walnut half-stocks each with chequered butt (one butt cracked through and repaired), silver escutcheons, barrel-bolt escutcheons and fore-end caps, border and scroll engraved trigger-guards, and brass-tipped ramrods, one with worm (some pitting to barrels, iron parts discoloured), Birmingham proof marks, in associated lined and fitted case with accessories including flask and iron pincer-type bullet-mould.
Other Notes: Thomas Turner is recorded in Halifax between 1821 and 1848.
